Staci Baker and Justine Temke founded Midwest Doulas to help create the best birth and postpartum experiences for growing families. The two met as private doulas and quickly realized they shared a common philosophy that the best births happen when families are well-informed and well-supported.
Midwest Doulas was formed to offer a strictly team-based model of doula care, which means there’s always a familiar face ready to support you and your partner or birth family — no matter when your delivery occurs. Staci and Justine work tirelessly to provide the evidence-based education and non-judgemental support growing families need to navigate their birth and postpartum journeys.
Staci Baker, Co-Founder
Staci was destined to become a doula! The births of her own two children and those of many friends sparked her passion for providing education, support, and guidance to families navigating the journey through pregnancy and birth. Her mission is to give women and their families a warm, safe, and inclusive place to turn for support. Staci loves to see women flourish with an awareness of their power, and confidence they are following the best path for their family and baby.
Raised in the Pacific Northwest, Staci now makes her home in St Paul. She is a (CD)DONA birth doula, Certified Lactation Educator Counselor (CLEC), trained postpartum doula, placenta encapsulator, Certified HypnoBirthing Support Professional, and trained “Baby Spinner” (spinningbabies.com). Staci is a graduate of the Doula Internship Program at The Minnesota Birth Center and volunteers as an on-call doula at Woodwinds Hospital (birth and pregnancy loss/grief). When not at a birth, Staci can be found doing something active such as running, hiking, practicing yoga or traveling!
Justine Temke, Co-Founder
Justine was born and raised in France, and that unique worldview drives her passion to educate and support women. She loves to share her knowledge of pregnancy, birth, and breastfeeding and strives to empower women and their families by providing compassionate support during and after pregnancy.
Professionally and personally, Justine has experienced many routes to childbirth – non-medicated, medicated, cesarean, water, home, and hospital. With open-minded, non-judgmental support, she wants you to have the tools you need to make the choices that will result in your best birth.
Justine is a (CD)DONA birth doula, Certified Lactation Education Counselor (CLEC), trained postpartum doula, certified “Baby-Spinner” (spinningbabies.com), and provides placenta encapsulation services. When not at work, Justine can be found spending time with her hubby and kiddos, cooking, crafting, having dinner with friends, or reading French books!
