Julie began her training with the Massachusetts Midwives Alliance Basic Course in Midwifery Studies, a nine-month lecture and practicum-based educational path to Midwifery in 1994. She started her apprenticeship as a Homebirth Midwife in 1997 and entered a Midwifery partnership with her mentor the following year, serving the Greater Boston area until 2001 and the Milwaukee, WI area until 2007. During her years of training and practicing, she also worked as a Postpartum Doula with MotherCare Services for 10 years, and the postpartum work has been the most meaningful to her.
Julie birthed her own son at home 16 years ago and knows firsthand the importance of having nurturing, supportive assistance in those early months of parenthood. Having helped over 600 families, she is most passionate about sharing her knowledge of essential newborn needs and their behaviors, providing practical and emotional support for the newly birthed family, cooking nourishing meals, being a caring and calming presence that allows the family to unfold at their own pace, and offering guidance and reassurance to new parents so they gain the confidence needed to parent in a way that aligns with their beliefs and values.
Julie is also passionate about how therapies such as Ayurveda, Reiki, and Craniosacral can benefit the health and well-being of the entire family. When she’s not working with new families, she’s often found sewing, knitting, exploring nature, or cooking delicious meals for her family.
